The sauce is versatile and can be used in a variety of dishes, from baked pasta to vegetables, to create a delicious and decadent dish – we use them to top the Gluten-Free Kentucky Hot Brown Sandwiches.

Kentucky Hot Brown Sandwiches (Gluten-Free)
Ingredients:
- 8 slices of turkey breast
- 8 slices of bacon
- 8 Schar gluten-free buns
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 tablespoons gluten-free flour (we prefer King Arthur’s Gluten-Free Flour)
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 slices of tomato
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Cook bacon in a pan until crispy. Set aside.
- In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the gluten-free flour and whisk for 2 minutes to create a roux.
- Gradually add the whole milk to the roux, whisking continuously until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Toast the gluten-free buns in the oven for 5 minutes.
- Assemble the sandwich by placing a slice of turkey on each bun.
- Spoon the Mornay sauce over the turkey.
- Place 2 slices of bacon on top of the sauce.
- Top with a slice of tomato.
- Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
